Late 19c German silver decorated hunting set consisting of a dagger and a small paring knife.

Description:

Straight single-edge blade marked "Weleysfarth & Sohn Dresden" and decorated with etched realistic hunting scenes on both sides. The hilt consists of a grip from brown deer horn and silver fittings profusely decorated with realistic animals and oak leaves. The wooden scabbard is covered with brown leather with silver fittings and has a pocket for a small paring knife en suite with a matching horn handle.

Some wear and loss of laquer to the scabberd's leather, otherwise superb original condition.

This is one of the best examples of 19th century European hunting daggers we handled in a very long time -- it is destined to become a highlight of an edged arms collection, no matter how advanced.
