Extremely rare WW1-era Russian Imperial Naval officer's dirk from the time of the Provisional government of Feb-Oct 1917.

Description:
Ivory hilt with brass fittings. The straight conic shape blade is decorated with engraved imagery - a Russian crown-less eagle with a ribbon in his claws instead of Royal symbolics - this type of eagle was only used during the time of the Provisional Government between Feb and Oct of 1917. The other side is inscribed "Златоустъ" (Zlatoust Arms Factory) and "Русская Армiя" (The Russian Army) embellished by wild flowers. The scabbard in covered with black leather with brass fittings and two rings.

Though this type of a WW1 naval dirk are not particularly rare, the unique inscription on the blade makes this dirk a unique type, missing from many advanced collections. Chronologically, it fits nicely between the model 1803/1914 Imperial naval dirk and the Soviet model 1923. We see this type of decoration on the blade for the very first time!

Condition: Very good original condition, showing some wear on the leather and patina on metal parts and the blade. Minor cracks on the ivory handle.
