Rare c. 1846 Russian made child-size kindjal dagger of the Black Sea Cossack Host.
Редкий детский кинжал Черноморского казачьего войска с пробирными клеймами Новочеркасска датированными 1846 годом.
Straight steel forged blade with a marking of a Dagestan master. One piece ivory hilt in the shape characteristic to the Black Sea Cossack host with two silver decorated buttons. Wooden scabbard is covered with black cloth held on the back with silver wire with silver fittings decorated with engraved and nielloed ornamentation. The locket is hallmarked with 84 for silver purity, Assayer's mark "АИ" for A. Inozemtsev dated 1846 and town mark of Novocherkassk, capital of the Don Cossack host.
Condition:
Very original condition, though showing wear especially on the scabbard. Minor damage to the silver chape.
