Extremely rare c. 1929 Soviet Zlatoust-made presentation shashqua with inscribed blade.
Description:
Magnificient c. 1929 Soviet Russian presentation "Caucasian style" shashqua sword with decorated gilt brass fittings and wooden grip. The blade is inscribed inside of a gilt ornamental cartouche surmounted by a Soviet star: "To honest warrior of the RKKA (Red Army) from RVS (Revolutionary Highest Command) of the USSR." The blade bears a stamp of Zlatoust Arms Factory and 1929 manufacture date. The locket has a raised image of the USSR Coat of Arms. The wooden scabbared is covered with black laquered oilcloth, which is showing some wear. Knot with ribbon in the colors of the Military order of the Red Banner.
This type saber is of museum quality and was only issed several times to such heroic leaders of the Civil war as Budenny, Timoshenko and Vostretsov.
