A matching pair of silver decorated wine drinking horns.

Made in Georgia region of Caucasus in mid XIX century, the Mountan sheep horns are decorated with silver detail which is hand chased and nielloed with an intricate floral pattern with a bird-head ends. Horns for wine drinking were an important attribute of holiday celebrations in the culture of Caucasian and Cossack peoples.

The inscription in Georgian dates the horns to [18]53.

One of the horns has an original repair as shown, otherwise very good original condition.
